A back parlor room with a view of some of the architecture designs in the house, ie., the arched door and the fireplace.
Anaruth Pendleton ( in the green shirt) and Marian Clark at the top of the Walnut stairs. Note the original painted ceiling and the art deco light fixture.
Anaruth showing the "secret door" in one of the upstairs bedrooms. On the other side of the wall is a storage room that opens into a "servants quarters". To get from one area to another, one had to go down one set of stairs and back up another set. Anaruth had the "door" built so she could go from one area to the other without having to go down and back up the stairs. She says it is a special favorite with children.
A view of the secret door from the storage room. Note the perfume bottle collection on the shelves. |
